Holiday Headaches

I'm all for holidays. Sort of. I discover every holidays just how much I love the routine of my life. But holidays are good and good for me. It's now thursday (had to think about that!) and is officially the first day with out a migrane like headache since about two weeks ago. Stress'll do that to me. And sleep and forced relaxing are the only things that fix it.

So here I am:

Relaxed

Switched off

Vague

And having a holiday. How nice for me.

My aims are:

Finishing my book - Chainfire by Terry Goodkind, the 9th in an epic series

Read Eragon (by Christopher Paolini) before watch the movie - although since Joel wants to watch it on boxing day and i haven't started the book and he's reading it - I doubt it!

Scrapbooking with my sisters

Get my drivers license - oh wait! I did that! Yeah! Go me! Finally did it!

Play guitar with my dad

Look at stuff with my mum - photo's from their Tasmania trip, dress patterns, handmade paper, cards, stamping stuff....

Cook something

Hang out with Joel

Play some board games (see side bar!)

sleep

And so far I'm doing pretty well with most of these things!

I'll keep you posted!

And big congratulations to Tamara and Damien who had their little girl on tuesday the 19th 0f decemeber at 7:05am:
Zaylia Bethany
Welcome to the world little one. I can't wait to meet you!

Blood & Water

I saw some of my relatives today. I hadn't seen my cousins for two years and my grandma for one year. It's a bizarre experience knowing that you are related to someone but not really knowing anything about them. It was really nice to see them but... I came away feeling like I am really missing out on some important stuff - some formation and experiences that only really come from regular contact and bonding that can't really happen when you only see someone every two years and don't communicate inbetween times.

On the other hand - there is a connection that two people have when they share grandparents that no one else can really share. It's not as tangible as other relationships - it can't be pinned on shared experiences or common ideas. Instead it's knowing that we have the same nose and lips, that the creativeness, although expresed differently, comes from the same place and that our parents grew up being fed radishes just the way we are whenever we go to visit.

Blood really does seem to be thicker than water... who would have thought?! I certainly wouldn't want to have to drink blood everyday when i'm thirsty for friendhsip though so praise God that water is so palatable!

perpetual motion

well, i'm on the move again. I've been given my marching orders and I've packed up and shipped out (almost). This is officially my last blog from here - goodbye fair desk, beloved office, fellow work mates and lovely purple pinboard. You have been good to me these two years but now the powers that be have moved me on and up(stairs) and back to where i started!! In 2004 I was in room 201a. In 2005 and 2006 I have been 119 (nice view, purple pinboards and ample space) and now, because wonders will never cease, i'm back in 201a for 2007 - well, until the gym is built and the staff in in 119 ship out then i can move in back in. Like I said to Chaman: I do what i'm told, mostly. And this is one of those times that it's just so much easier to do what i'm told.

So, farewell 119. I'll come and visit but for now I must be gone. I'll reserve my pins for your purple pinboards only and yellow tack to the walls of 201a instead (no pinboards! what!).

It's been fun.

C'mon Baby!

Please pray for my friend Tamara today... her baby is due! Today! And my does she look like she's ready to give birth to the little one! Come out little one! LIfe is fun out here!

Italian Party

Joel and I decided that his class needed to have a break up party to celebrate the end of three years study (never mind that they still have two to go!). And not wanting to have a pizza and beer party (Joel's initial suggestion) we finally settled on an Italian theme. Brilliant! Pasta, candles, red wine, garlic bread, red and white table clothes, outside, fairy lights (thanks adam! xo), salad, brilliant! Thanks everyone for the great food, wonderful company and a good year! We had a blast and here are a few pictures to show for it - blurry I know - haven't mastered the whole nighttime photography on our little digital... enjoy! (and more underneather)
