A moment of peace

At the moment there are very few things I can do that help me empty my mind of all the stress, panic, exhaustion and... yuckiness that fills it most of the time. Today I spent a wonderful 2 hours so completely absorbed in my art that for a short while everything was ok. There was nothing but me, my canvas, my paints, my brushes and the sun. And for this moment I had peace. And for this moment to come again I'll keep going. Because it's these moments for which I am created - to be wholly at peace with my Creator.

I wanted to keep it but I painted it for my friend who celebrated her birthday today. And perhaps there is more joy in that.

Still here

Just having a rough time of it all at the moment. Not able to share here but thoughts and prayers are apperciated. Thanks!

Balance

Among other things today I balanced the adult responsibilties of balancing our accounts, paying debts and other necessary house keeping duties with the childish joy of throwing cumquat's from my bedroom balcony onto the road and trying to get cars to run over them.

Oh joy of my well balanced soul!

Daisy

If she belongs to my parents in law does that make her my puppy in law?

She's been staying with us this weekend. My my is she fun and cute and soft and cuddly and all puppy! (the pink bow was my addition - it didn't last long!)

It was nice have my parents in law here too!!

An Itty Bitty Boost

Today I was reminded again of the vast chasm between High School and Primary School. Michael, Intern Extraordinaire, and I drove up to Immanuel Luther Primary School in Gawler this morning to take chapel for them. Our theme was Love - based on 1 John 4:7-12. They rocked out! So much enthusiam and excitement we couldn't stop grinning! Completely loved the experience.

Our two personal highlights are as follows:

Michael - On interviewing the students "What is Love?" received this from a year one student... "I...ah... I love you." We've never seen these kids before! How cute!

Me: After sharing the message I walked over to my seat and missed what may be one of the loveliest things ever said to me. Lucky for me a teacher came and repeated the story to me afterwards. There was this little girl from reception sitting in the very front row on the floor who, as I left to sit down, called out to me "do you know, you're beautiful!" Oh! can I please take her home with me forever! And she was practically under neath me so her only view was pretty much up my nose! God bless her for showing me love in a very unexpected way today!

And thanks for listening to our message. We went to share Christ's message of love for us and his call to respond by loving each other were completely loved on ourselves - Praise God for little people who speak their minds and share your love recklessly.

The Beauty of Order

For a while now I have been longing for order amongst me jewels. It's not that I have so many that I have no space for them. It's just that most of them are beaded necklaces that love to get tangled together in some type of bead melding that I don't appreciate. Last Monday, on another leg of our 'find the perfect couch' mission, Joel and I went to Freedom. There we found a number of things that took our fancy - ok, mine! One of those being a gorgeous frame with a velvet covered foam board inside it - to hang your jewellery on!! wow! Boy did I want! But, being a little bit of a scrooge and also not generally being capable of buying things I didn't set out to buy (a later, small purchase, being the reason for the qualifying 'generally'!) I left the store without it.

Skip to Saturday morning. Joel and I love to do all our cleaning in one fell swoop and Saturday mornings is it at out place. Joel attacks the carpets and the kitchen while I scrub the bathroom and wash our clothes. (Now that's a good man!!) It just so happens that this Saturday I couldn't walk past anything without cleaning it and in that process I found the following frame and the beginning of a very good idea!

It was sitting in a cupboard. I obviously didn't want it up any more (I bought it in High School to go with my 'sea theme' room). With a bit of imagination, a bit of hard sanding, some pretty fabric and a few wall pins I could have the solution to my problem.

A bit over an hour later...
A little bit of rustic charm in my bedroom today!
No more mess, no more tangled beads and one very proud and happy girl!!
