Some days a girl wakes up and just can't pull it together. The hair - not working. The outfit - who bought those clothes? The make up - pardon?!? The attitude - back off!
Friday last week was that day for me (I have had others but let's not dwell on that). I managed to do 3 loads of washing in the morning before dragging myself out the door to do the grocery shopping - a barely tolerable chore at the best of times for me.
So there I was, in all my splendor, standing next to the baked beans and tinned spagetti trying to make a decision I can no longer remember becasue I didn't actually purchase anything from that isle at all. All this time, moving ever more stealthily towards me was a cheery smart looking lady, who had obviously dressed and painted herself specifically to make me look like little more than an unfortunate homebody. Oh, and she had her camerman with her so all the world could see just what kind of a crummy day I was having.
Did she see I was not in the mood for her questions? Maybe, but I suppose she also saw I didn't have the wits about me to evade her. Bugger.
Anyway, if you did happen to be one of the few, now black-listed, people who saw me on channel 10 news last Friday night I want you to know this: I ended up speaking with this woman for about ten minutes on the topic and gave her some information about it she hadn't previously heard.
However the one thing they did show me saying was a very profound, and probably very indicitive of my state of mind, "Goodness. Really?"
Such gems of wisdom I have to offer the world around me. I really must on this one - I am so very empty handed!
(By the way - my day vastly improved with an expensive shopping spree - the spoils of which can be seen later!)
Oh, wow!
This completely blows my mind! I love it, I'm inspired by it. And I can't believe I have to stay at work for another 6 hours before I can go home and splash paint over my own canvas!
(yes, I was watching this at work!)
Thank You

A Week and a half ago it was my birthday - Yay! There was much joy and celebrations and, my all time favourite, presents. I have some incredibly generous family and friends.I'm on my way through making little notes of thanks for everyone. I've used some beautiful Amy Butler notepaper for the cards and chopped up a travel magazine for the envelopes. Each card has the initials of the recipient on the top so I didn't have to remove each one from its envelope when I hand delivered them.
They're all quite small - about 11cm by 6cm - so cute! I hope they're enjoyed as much I as I have enjoyed to gifts and wishes I'm sending out thanks for.

Survival
I made it home. I am in one piece and only slightly bruised. And after two days I am calm again!

The camp site is lovely but the temperatures were in the mid to high 30's. The activities are fun (a giant swing, rockclimbing, canoeing, basketball, volleyball, iceblocking, initiative games, team games, archery and raft making) but the kids just weren't interested - perhaps due to the heat, but partly due to some bad attitudes in my group. The beds weren't too bad but someone in my room snored like nothing I'd ever heard before. The food was great and the staff were super fun.
In summary - if the weather had been cooler and my kids more enthusiastic and obediant (I'm not even going there right now!) I think I would be raving about the camp. As it stands the whole experience rates an 'ok'.

From the Square to the Town
I'm off to Wellington, SA (about 2 hours away) for 3 days. Year 8 camp beckons. 107 12 year olds - should be a lot of fun!
See you on the other side!
