from Bali!
I'm having a super time.
I promise you photos and stories when I get home!
New Family Member
First there was the 13inch Macbook for Joel. Which came with a classic 2GB iPod Nano for me (engraved with 'rachel esther: the soundtrack' on the bac and nearly obsolete with age). About 18 months after that we welcomed the 24inch iMac into our home, onto my desk and, as you know, deep into my heart!
And today we welcomed a lovely new member into our growing Mac family: an 8GB iTouch. Thank you duty free and thank you me for suggesting it to dear husband as a way of avoiding being the pastor who forgets to call back and turns up late.
Barely Contained Excitement!
On Wednesday we fly from Adelaide to Perth. On Thursday we fly from Perth to Bali. Yep! Bali! Getting just a tad excited here. I've never been overseas. I've only had my passport for a few months. I can't believe it's almost here! There's packing to do - but I'm approaching it more as and 'unpacking'. See, I've been told you can buy lots of clothes over there so my plan is to take enough clothes for 2 plane rides and 2 days and then spend, spend, spend! To help their economy after all the tough things they've had going on over there of course...?!!

I plan on drinking lots of cocktails by the pool, getting massages on the beach and eating new foods. We're going white water rafting, taking a cooking class, touring the volcano and cycling around the rice paddies.
What am I missing? Have you been to Bali? What else should Joel and I include in our plans?

Work in Progress...

New header coming soon.
My goodness I loving being back at my computer!!
Getting Bigger
This gorgeous little button is now officially my Goddaughter. Joel baptised her on the 21st of December - his first baptism!Hasn't she grown?! I guess that's what they do.
Light and Inspiring
How lovely a work space is this one?! At this stage one of the largest rooms in our new house has been promised to me as a work room/office/retreat/art space so I'm spending a lot of time imagining what I will do with it. I like the lightness of this one. THere is a lot of neutralness about it while still having plenty of colour. Of course I will only have one imac in there and would like more empty desk space for crafty things but the over all feel of the room suits me nicely.

Some days later...
Christmas Day!
Joel has elected himself as "the Drinks Man" and derives much joy from selecting and creating the drinks for Christmas lunch. This year was tasty Frangelico mixed with ginger beer and lime - Yummy!
This was, embarrassingly, one of the only shots I got of mum. She says it is the luck of sitting next to the photographer. I think it's too bad I didn't get more. This is at lunch. We ate outside and still used the pedestal fans to get the air flowing. Oh - and Adam - I have better photos of you but think I'll save them for another time!
My sisters and I are dad's biggest fans - after mum of course! He did a superb job of leading the service and bring a great Christmas message to us all. But when doesn't he?!
Then he gets home, gets his casuals on (and a santa hat) and tells the funniest stories and jokes you've ever heard!
My dear darling baby (nearly 21 year old) sister is NOT shy of the camera. Nor should she be - she's gorgeous! And a complete whacko...
I have never seen her as embarrassed as she was by this very funny present from our parents!! There was a bit of a story: She had written a list of what she wanted for Christmas and on the bottom had included "a boyfriend - oh wait! I have one of those already". Welcome to the family Adam - we like you lots! My parents being the tricksters and jokesters they are couldn't resist buying her a Prince Charming Ken doll... which Adam secretively tried to pull the head off of a few times. Ha! That will teach you to write silly things on your wish list Han!
Jes gets very excited about her presents...

And if she loves it - she really loves it!
We had such a wonderful day together being family - laughing, teasing, working together and enjoying each others company. I hope your Christmas days can be remembered as fondly as I remember mine.
Idea
Take a look at this Lovely Kitchen cupboard. The Jars - the Jars! Oh so nice.
- get back to my own computer tonight. It is NOT silly to be so excited about that. I love my mac. I love it lots.
$$$$ or not
Ugh! I have just requested a Time Out. From preparing our 2009 budget. I think I might stretch my time out for say 12 months? Maybe? Maybe not.
It's so HARD! We have to factor in weird things like fringe benefits - blah blah blah.
I guess it will be a good thing. I'm allowed to include getting my hair done and buy clothes so it can't be all bad...
Do you do a budget? Do you stick to it?!
(one more sleep until I can use my own computer again!)
2 Firsts and a Second
I've slept in my new house. Just for one night on our way between Sydney and Horsham - Oh boy, wait until I draw you a map of where we've been!!
First impressions: Not too bad. I can live here (thinking I have a choice is dangerous). I can see how this could be my home for a few years.
First breakdown: About 10 minutes into a dinner I never finished Joel said something really mean and awful and unloving like - "what do you reckon?" - and I cracked it. I found a corner and bawled my eyes out. Sometime after that I left the house and stomped down the street. Then, following the natural rhythm of a tantrum I went back to the house and let Joel try and comfort me - of course that made it worse and I asked if we could leave and sleep somewhere else. I sobbed some more about the injustice of having to go wherever Joel goes and not being able to pick my own house and not being able to renovate it how I want without a committee approving it and on and on.
Some time later I calmed down a little and soon after that the lovely congregation chairman said I could pick paint colour and he'd paint our bedroom for us before we get back. There is not a lot he could've said to give me a smile and hope at that moment but that was it.
Second Impression: It's going to be ok. The changes we want to make are not unreasonable and are sure to be carefully considered. The kitchen might be completely renovated and we can buy a free standing airconditioner for our bedroom. Curtains are easy enough to replace too.
No pictures yet - couldn't quite bring myself to that. But I promise - there will be some in February. And some after every change we make and room we finish!
It's going to be ok.
